Jennifer Truelove, District 3
Term: 2021 to 2024
Jennifer Truelove graduated from Plano Senior High School in Plano, Texas in 1990. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian and a minor in Marketing. In 1999, Mrs. Truelove earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. She met her husband Kurt Truelove, a native of Marshall, Texas, while attending law school in Lubbock.
Mrs. Truelove and her husband moved back to East Texas upon graduation from law school and eventually established their current residence in Marshall in 2012. They are parents to Cate who graduated from Marshall High School and attends The University of Texas at Austin where she is majoring in economics. They are also parents to Maggie who plays on the Lady Mav Varsity softball team and Walt who is a member of The Big Red Pride band at Marshall High School.
Council Member Truelove is a partner at McKool Smith Law Firm where she has practiced law since 2010. Before joining McKool Smith, Mrs. Truelove was the first assistant district attorney of Harrison County, Texas, where she prosecuted felony cases involving injury and assault of children and represented the Department of Family and Protective Services in cases where children and adults were taken into protective custody. She is also a trained mediator. She was recognized in “Best Lawyers in America” for Intellectual Property and commercial litigation (2019-2020) as well as a leading patent attorney by The Legal 500 (2020).
